Tumescent Technique
Dr. Diwan utilizes the highly successful tumescent technique for liposuction. This technique improves the shape or contour of the body by removing fat in areas such as a double chin, the stomach, hips, buttocks, thighs and the knees. The procedure allows safe removal of fat under local anesthesia with relatively little discomfort. A local anesthetic is used to induce swelling of the skin for easier removal of the fat through suction. The tumescent method lessens bleeding, bruising and post -operative discomfort and remains as effective as, but simpler than, the newer versions of liposuction such as SmartLipo. Liposuction does not improve "cellulite".
