How are facial veins treated with lasers?

How long is recovery after facial vein treatment?

The in-office treatment is followed by mild swelling and pinkness for 1-2 days. You should still feel well enough to return to work and be able to cover up any signs of treatment using makeup. Dr. Diwan will provide you with detailed care instructions after your facial vein treatment. It is important to avoid  sun exposure as your skin heals, and thereafter.

When will I notice the results of my facial vein treatment?

By the end of the laser treatment the veins become invisible. There is significant improvement after a single treatment.  Further improvement is achieved with additional treatments, which are spaced at least  six weeks apart. With the blood vessels removed, the original appearance of the skin, without the broken blood vessels, is restored.

Some other problems such as venous lakes and angiomas can take about three weeks to resolve.

The even color of the skin can become interrupted by the appearance of light or dark brown spots or patches. The most common reason for such discoloration is sun-exposure and its effect on the skin. All sun-exposed areas are affected, including the face, neck, the “V” of the chest, back, arms, backs of the hands, and the legs. In time, the discolored areas become more numerous, larger and darker, giving the skin a worn, weathered look. Dr. Renuka Diwan can help to effectively restore an even pigmentation of these areas with a customized laser  treatment.

How is laser pigmentation treatment performed?

Rejuvenation of the skin includes treatment of skin discoloration. Laser treatment of excess melanin in the skin is the most specific treatment for brown discoloration. Treatment is performed in-office by Dr. Diwan. Many patients tolerate the minor discomfort from the procedure very well. For those who prefer it, pre-treatment of the area with an anesthetic cream can help diminish any minor discomfort. A pre-treatment consultation is necessary to evaluate the areas to be treated and to ascertain that more serious problems such as skin cancer are diagnosed and properly treated.

How long is recovery after laser pigmentation treatment?

Bruising, limited to the treated area, is expected to last 5-14 days (depending on the location on the body). Use of sun-protection measures is vital to achieve an optimal result.

When will I notice the results of my laser pigmentation treatment?

Follow-up treatments at six-week intervals are sometimes needed in order to complete the treatment. You will notice gradual improvements in the appearance of your skin with each individual session. Long-term sun protection is important to minimize further sun damage and future pigmentation. For your convenience, effective sunblocks are available at our office to help maintain beautiful, evenly toned skin.

Disfiguring enlargement of the nose, or rhinopyma, resulting from the growth of soft tissue, can be effectively treated with a carbon dioxide (CO2) laser. Dr. Renuka Diwan is able to beautifully sculpt the nose with this laser sculpting procedure.

How does CO2 Laser Sculpting help treat Rhinophyma?

After numbing with anesthetic injection, the focused beam of the CO2 laser is utilized to cut through and remove the excess tissue. Final sculpting is gently completed with the laser beam to achieve a  normalized shape of the nose.

How long is recovery after Rhinophyma treatment?

You will need to spend some time recovering after your  laser sculpting treatment for rhinophyma.  Dr. Diwan will provide you with detailed care instructions upon the completion of your procedure.  Healing is completed in about two to three weeks.

When will I notice the results of my Rhinophyma laser sculpting treatment?

It will be some time before you are able to see the final results of your procedure. Once the healing is complete, any disfigurement caused by rhinophyma will be dramatically reduced or eliminated. Redness of the newly healed skin will gradually fade over several weeks. Patients are often overjoyed with the look of their new nose and experience life-changing boosts in their levels of self-confidence.

How is laser hair removal performed?

The diode laser, with an 810 nm wavelength, is used at our office primarily on fairer complexions. The minor discomfort from the treatment can be effectively controlled with an anesthetic cream before the treatment, if needed.

Laser hair removal is most effective for brown or black hair. White or blonde hair lacks the pigment that is necessary for absorption of the laser energy and is, therefore, not affected by the laser. Red hair also has very little pigment and, as a result, does not respond as well as darker hair.

All areas of the face, neck, arms, legs, underarms, bikini area, back,  chest and abdomen can be treated with the laser for men and women.  Patients who develop ingrown hairs from shaving, especially appreciate the benefits of not having to shave. A medical consultation before the laser treatment is important to rule out medical problems which can cause excessive hair growth. If such an abnormality is detected, medical treatment of the underlying problem is not only important to the patient’s health; it also corrects the excessive hair growth.

How long is recovery after laser hair removal?

After the treatment the skin usually appears red and a little bumpy for 30 min, or less, to a couple of hours.  It is important to keep your treated skin sun-protected outdoors and avoid any unnecessary sun exposure.

When will I notice the results of my laser hair removal?

Multiple laser hair removal treatments with Dr. Diwan are necessary for the most effective hair reduction. Incremental improvement occurs with successive treatments.

Approximately 50 percent reduction occurs after four laser treatments for darker hair. Further treatments provide an additional decrease in hair growth. Treatments can be repeated every 6-8 weeks.

Will the hair come back after laser hair removal?

While the results are long-term, there may be minimal residual hair left which can be managed with a treatment periodically, to maintain smooth hair-free skin.
